Tim.....I plant 15 lbs of wheat in every other middle with a gandy air seeder mounted on a 12 row hipper.....i always like to have wheat planted by halloween....... i could easily broadcast 30 lbs /ac for solid planting..........i paid $9/bu for cleaned wheat last fall, so $2.25/ac (15lbs) or $4.50 (30lbs) gives me good growth and gives good weed suppression......:) I don't plant it for weed suppression but for sand blowing and only plant it in non watered middles.......so i would think you could get by with $5-$9/ac.......that is planting less than 60lbs/ac with a drill......:)
