ND | patt0463 - 3/8/2017 07:42 Our cow tagging system is as follows, entire generations tag begins with the last digit of the year they were born. This years 1st calves all are 500 series. After breeding last fall, when confirmed pregnant; we took their calf tags out and gave them a cow tag starting with 500, then 501, and so forth. Had about 60, year there are some duplicates with 12 year old cows born in 2005 that have not been culled or died yet. But that doesn't mess up our system for sorting cows to go out to range pasture later. Calves get their mothers number.
I do the same works well for me. My plan this year is turn the bulls out a little latter calve half on grass in pasture no tags needed then . |
