Subject: RE: Home drainage

NW MN
Mine discharges above ground. I comes out of the basement and above ground 2' or so. The pipe is in the air for 15 feet or so and then only shallow buried a few inches for another 30-40 to the discharge point. The key is that pipe has a really good slope to it. Our sump pump runs year round due to water table and some other water use age that goes into the sump. No problems here and we can see -30 degrees in the winter and go weeks where it never gets above 3-4 degrees. I think having enough slope in the pipe is key. Have the water flowing fast enough that is is out of the pipe before it cools enough to freeze.
