It's not hard to sew patches. You just need a good heavy duty basic open arm machine. The open arm feature makes it so much easier to wiggle around the pants leg. Depending on how neat you want the patch, you could also use fabric glue and then just zig zag around the edges. Email me if you'd like some pictures of how to patch jeans.
