Central Iowa | A few thoughts:
Stainless steel as much as possible.
Concrete walls > metal gates.
Personally I don't like cup waterers, I prefer swingers.
Natural vent > power vent.
Curtain machines inside the barns. I still have some outside, and working on them in the winter sucks!
At least 3 foot wide alley for loading.
Build a nice composter setup for mortality.
I also like the setups where once you enter the office, you don't have to go back outside between each barn. Everything is connected.
