SC Wisconsin | It's not that they don't like the smell, the nh3 will cause an instant collapse of the lungs and almost immediate death. I'm a refrigeration mechanic at a vegetable plant where we use ammonia as our refrigerant and have taken countless hours on safety for it. If you can, get a respirator with cartridges for ammonia if you are going to do this. I don't mean to sound like a mom, but nh3 can make you history in 1 good breath. I think household cleaners only have like 1 or 2% ammonia whearas fertilizer is around 96-98% purity and the "commercial type" that we use is over 99% pure. | |
