as an answer to the original question:
let's say demand for bean crush is fairly stable over the 12 months of the marketing year.........as the year goes by, the size of the pool of beans is shrinking.....if the market perceives the need to cover 100 myn bushels of beans for crush, it is going to take more market "ooomph" in June than it did in January to get that job done.....which helps explain why the amount of movement in futures is greater as farmer ownership shrinks....
