Subject: RE: Feb Cattle

N.C. Iowa

Why do the cow-calf guys and feeders seem to point fingers at each other, when we are both on the same team?  The cow calf guy needs the feeder, the feeder needs the cow calf guy.  It is obvious that there is financial strain since both are blaming the other for their problems.

I don't know how we change it, but to me the blame would go to those in Washington always changing policy to help one sector, but not really look at what it does to another.  The cow calf guys costs go up since they are competing against the government for pasture ground, but in the end the government usually wins the bidding war since they can print money.  The feeder also has many instances where the government is or isn't their when they should be, I guess to me an example would be the Holstein market at the moment.  These are just a few examples there are hundreds, and my head is hurting thinking about it.
