Subject: RE: cost to haul grain

Pittsburg, Kansas
We haul most of our own grain but occasionally need to hire some. It costs us .41 for a 93 mile 900-950 bu. haul when we hire it done. You will have to do the math.

We figure it costs us only a few cents a bushel less to haul it ourselves after all costs are considered. But our guys are on hourly wage because we use them year round and on other tasks when not hauling. Plus that keeps them employed so we have them when needed for harvest. So if they have to wait in line a bunch it makes our cost higher than it otherwise might be.
