You do not need any cell or wifi connection at all.

90% chance when you took it out of the box and something upgraded, other parts did not.

Your app, your controller software, and your drone itself all need to be the same versions of software.

Dji is -veey- poor about allowing this to even happen.

The drone itself does not upgrade as you would think. Meanwhile the controller software upgrades by accidentally hitting a screen wrong.

Look closely at the versions of each item you have. It is buried in the menus on the scree.

The simple answer is to upgrade everything to current version now. Upgrading the drone is a bit involved, you need to download the software onto the camera card, and then stick tge card in the drone and wait up to a half hour. This is not spelled out well to beginners, as when the app demands to be upgraded we think that is it, but that is -only- the controller that is updating.

It's not hard, it's just not one-touch user friendly.
