May I also suggest on a "from scratch system" to plan for growth? I worked for a bin builder before I built my first on farm storage. He would not build my first bin till I showed him (on his drafting table) a half million bu. storage plan that included the very first bin still sitting where we built it. Thought it was silly thirty years ago...... not anymore.

Do you care to share about how many acres you were farming at the time to come up with that half a million bushels, OR if you were going to start over again today and were going to design a plan today how many extra bushels/acres do you think you would plan for? Would you plan for double your storage needs today? 3x? 4x?

Did you have a lot of owned land at the time?

In a corn/sb rotation, how many bushels of storage would you "plan for" for every 500 Acres of land you farm?
