The Green Hills of Missouri | When I went through this situation with a heifer bull I bought that didn't breed ten of the eleven heifers he was with, I was asked if "they were cycling"! "WELL he has bred cows" I was told.
The following spring he stuck ten of twelve heifers.
NEVER could get that bull to gain weight, was always eating with the rest but never put on weight like them. Had him and the other bulls on pasture after breeding and would see him laying down all the time. Then he developed a limp in the right rear leg so we moved him back home and had the vet out, checked out fine.
The bull died two days later, had the vet back out to post him Aortic Anerisim(sp) was the cause.
Was told by the vet that this is caused by low copper in the diet at a young age.
The pic is of the Anerisim.
