Subject: RE: The beauty of wrapped baleage in a northern winter

South East South Dakota/winters Tucson, AZ
Since I started making baleage, I have gotten a 5th cutting. Which I never had before. I can bale quicker and make great feed. I am to make oat baleage and either get my 2nd crop beans planted or a crop of sorghum/Sudan or an application of manure and then cover crops. I would never go back to making dry forage.

Not sure about your cost of $30/bale for wrapped bale, i figure 10 year life on wrapper so my annual cost for wrapper
$2100 plus wrap and that cost depends on number of wraps. With the number of bales i mak my wrapper expense is around $3/ bale and an average of $6/bale for plastic.
