John e.c.MI - 10/25/2016 19:49 Got my letter telling me how much our premiums are going up. Me, my wife and three kids, we were still paying medical bills through August because our deductibles had not yet been met. I don't need to go on my rant of how un-sustainable this whole system is. At the rate it is going we will all be slaves to the insurance companies in the near future with the majority of our income going to pay ever rising premiums. So my questions is how many people have given up on health insurance by choice? Then take the money that would have been spent on premiums and either save or invest it and pay cash for medical expenses. I don't mean to discount the 'what if' scenarios, but at the rate I am going I will likely pay over half a million in the next 20 years in health insurance.. I actually do know people that have been doing this for over 40 years. But that's sorta the catch 22 of it, they started long ago and have been fortunate to have not needed but a few of those dollars for basic and prevention costs. So those people are in a great position now to pay their way. I notice that many procedures of prevention are now payed entirely by the insurance company. I do not have children, so I can not comment on that aspect. However, as someone once pointed out to me, running without insurance is like putting on your seat belt after the accident. |
