I agree I find the term disrespectful also. I'm guessing that those that use the term disrespectfully will one day come to realize that they wasted the opportunities afforded them by having their Dad's around for many many years to talk with and learn from. I learned as much as I could from my Dad and elders while they were here and never disrespected their wishes even when I may have not always agreed with them. I lost my Dad 16 years ago this morning so this still hits especially hard for me. Those of you with your Dad's still here take the time to learn from them and ask them questions. All too soon the day will occur that they are not there anymore. Being responsible for all the decisions, problems, failures, and having no family elders left to discuss things with is not all it's cracked up to be. I still feel the severe storm we had approx. 1 month before his passing that destroyed trees, tore up buildings and flattened the corn was a significant factor in his passing. Pic is 8/12/00 cleaning up the storm damage. Dad passed 9/11/00 from a massive stroke.
