Floyd County, Iowa | My Dad passed away a couple years ago. I made the mistake of referring to him as the old man once (not trying to be disrespectful, either), when I was in school. He made it clear that that was unacceptable, and I never did it again. However he would refer to some of his military senior CO's as "the old man", but that was said with respect.
Never referred to my Mom as "old lady", and neither did Dad.
Never referred to my wife as "old lady".
Our adult daughters call me Dad or Daddy.
They call my wife Mom.
I always called my in-laws by their first names.
My wife always called my folks Mom and Dad. | |
