That's all well and good, if you have lots of labor. Sounds like you have 3 guys in the field and I'd think you need at least two more in trucks. I think the OP is trying for best effieciency with minimal labor.
If you have the need to run a 12 row corn head I would certainly hope you have 4-5 guys around at all times. We generally do it with 4 and a pert time 5th. It's not going to work if you are many miles away from your drying setup or going to town sitting in line at the local elevator. 65% of our corn will be within 4 miles of our dryer and we can dump a semi in about 9 minutes. We try to have 3 people hauling from the further away farms and have very little waiting but it can/will happen. If you are combining in lands you can get by with 1 cart, 2 would be nice but not totally necessary. Cart has to dump quickly and get back under combine and follow it for the whole round, ending up right in front of trucks and the combine empty. |
