North Central Illinois | Depends on what the humidity is and whether there is a breeze. On a humid, still day, I let the top get dry. Better to lose some leaves than mold the whole lot. If the air is dry and the wind is blowing, I will try start just early enough to finish the field before leaf loss gets very bad. Hard to get it right. One reason I hate straight alfalfa hay. | |
