We also ran a combine (1680 no chopper) with Disruptors a while back. The Disruptors definitely made a difference in soybeans breaking up the stems. They are not as good as a chopper but we were happy with them at the time. They also helped rotor throughput with wet soybeans stems. http://cmweldinginc.com/Disrupter/The-Disrupter
