Subject: RE: Stress Degree Days

In simple terms, a stress degree day occurs anytime temperature exceeds 86 degrees. For example if the daytime temperature high is 90, then 4 stress degree days have occurred. 86 is assumed to be the temperature at which corn maximizes its growth rate (which is why growing degree days have a top end of 86 degrees).
