| You don't say what the rest of your family situation is.....how old are your parents? How close to retiring? Do you have any siblings? Any in farming? etc. However, I have a suggestion that is counter to what you are thinking. When you graduate, take time and get an off-farm ag job. Take at least 2 years working off the farm. Don't give up on your dream to farm. However, that time you spend working in an ag field, off the farm, will be valuable to you down the road. Way more valuable than you realize. With the right off-farm job, you will get to see what other farmers are doing, make contacts you will not have the opportunity to make if you go directly back to the farm after graduating. Think about this. IF your parents are still in good health, consider doing this. |
