East Central Ia		Yes the dry spring and VERY HARD ground was the biggest challenge this spring for us as well.

I have a neighbor who did the same thing... Planted rye on the side hills of a farm and not the flat.

I also agree that I can see the benefits on the rough ground. Just trying to learn how to manage it as this spring was a bit overwhelming.
