Subject: RE: Stalk breakdown concoction

Central IL
I think my soil is doing all it can-it just can't handle this much residue from high yield multiple year corn. However- under that residue is the greatest soil structure ever. I got 3.2" rain the night before last and I think I can spray today. No ponds anywhere no runoff. I don't want to mess that up with tillage. I totally understand what your saying about the cn ratio and residue size so would it not stand to reason if I increase the n on top of residue with ample time before it gets cold- shouldn't that improve the breakdown?
