Back in the 50's, common here in Sk was that land was worth the gross receipts from one normal yr. Bought my first land in 1966 and that relationship held , not because I was smart but because of above average crop and above average yields.
In nominal dollars, the prices farmers received in Sask from wheat in 1919-1920 were not exceeded until about 2000.
Farm land prices today are the result of technology change, not product prices.Sadly we seem to have a disconnect from historical trends. | |
