DO NOT FLUSH THEM. Water treatment plants are not designed to handle them, neither is your septic tank.
Our local Sheriff's office has a drop box for old medications in their lobby. They do it to prevent abused medicines from "disappearing" into the wrong hands. Search your local area and see if there is a similar program anywhere.
