| Perhaps our understanding of the economy as taught by folks who do not participate in the economy is not adequate or even useful. However in Econ 101, basics like supply and demand and free markets are explained. Those ideas don't seem to get a lot of time with folks thinking "all is well". Our economy is at the point where folks typically can't qualify for a title loan.
On a side note, going to a university is not technical school where you might learn to weld or otherwise become a productive member of society. The purpose is to build problem solving, analytical and other thought process, communication and similar skills. The "facts" presented are not really relevant to the education process (illustrations are useful though). I went to work as an automotive engineer and the UofIL did little to prepare me for the day to day activity of my job, but it did prepare me to think. Turned out thinking was important. It helps not blindly accepting wild claims. | |
