Grits are a Southern version of ground corn which is boiled and served somewhat similar to cornmeal mush or "polenta" in other places. They are can be served at breakfast lunch and dinner/supper. But they are usually not eaten sweetened. or with syrup. They are also made out of white corn, not yellow.
