JohnW - 5/18/2016 14:09 Grits are a Southern version of ground corn which is boiled and served somewhat similar to cornmeal mush or "polenta" in other places. They are can be served at breakfast lunch and dinner/supper. But they are usually not eaten sweetened. or with syrup. They are also made out of white corn, not yellow. This Wikipedia does a pretty good job of explaining what "grits". Go south of the Mason Dixon line and you will learn more about them. Having lived in the South a time or two we have instant grits in our pantry which I eat once in a while. Quaker makes them https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grits http://ancientharvest.com/kinds-cornmeal-polenta-vs-masa-vs-grits/ http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/one-pan-cheesy-gr...

Sounds like something else that should be left down south besides their tractors!
