Driftless SW Wisconsin | My vet comes twice a year on scheduled PM visits, usually late June and late Nov. He supplies and administers all vaccinations, worming, preg check, cuts steers, bangs and lute for heifers, looks them all over. Cost averages out to about $30/head/year over all cows and calves including trip charges. Money well spent, imho. edit to add: fwiw, I see pinkeye as primarily a fly control problem. Some years and some locations you have more flies, and pinkeye, than others. My vet says he has pinkeye in his pure bred black Angus herd and it's not really a BF/WF issue. Eye pigment, he says, is more related to cancer eye than it is to pink eye.
