Subject: RE: Question for those raising grassfed beef

West Texas

Not being familiar with your operation, I can't begin to tell how I would run that. However, I can tell you what I do and it is a continuous project. My cows are probably 90% grass fed and the butcher calves are grass fed up until the last 2 1/2 months. At that time, I pour the sweet feed to them. Yes, all of my customers are aware of how the calves are raised. As for moving them,  I take 3 sq bales out to them a couple times a week. Drive right by them and let them follow me a 1/4 mile or so, then let them have the hay. It's not much and they will clean it all up. They will follow me anywhere, anytime. Yes there is always a round bale in the ring feeder close to the water tank. Exact same hay but they go berserk over the sq bales.
