Beresford, SD | We started fertilizing for beans 10 years ago. Put down something like a 10-70-50 dry after corn harvest in the fall. Corn the next year on the bean stubble gets 165-60-40-10-2 right ahead of the finisher/planter. (All this hinges on soil samples) We use this program on non-manured ground. Bean yields have responded quit a bit since we started applying p&k this way. If you want big yields you have to fertilize for them. As far as numbers, before this program 45 bushel beans were ok and 50 were good....now 55 is ok and seen whole farms in the 70's. Mother Nature plays a big role though.
