EC IN | Not to give you a hard time, but I would not be surprised to see it all peel up in a couple years. I have at least one old tractor that I bought where I can tell some farmer just blew paint over top of existing paint and it is flaking off in large pieces and the original paint underneath showing thru is better than what is flaking off the surface. A simple coat of primer is what you need to help the new paint adhere to the existing paint (along with good prep of course). Primer is an adhesion promoter since paint doesn't stick to other paint as well as it sticks to primer. I prefer a good epoxy primer because it also helps guard against rust on any places that may be down to bare metal already. | |
