How does someone get that far in debt on inherited land?????? Being a smaller farmer myself I need the competition to get into financial trouble so that there will be some room to grow.
If whatever they owned was worth $20 in the good times all of a sudden was worth $10 (if that) in the bad times and throw some bad years in their or production or markets or both it wouldn't take long to be upside down.
Especially if your talking 18-20% interest, think of putting your whole operation on a Visa card today, yikes. |
