If you, whether it be a single person or a couple, have put your lifetime in to working to accumulate the assets that you have, you should put the effort out to instruct the world who you want to be the benificiaries of your labor.
If you choose not to make those decisions a court of law and lawyers will make them for you. It won't be cheap either.
