There is still one intact a mile south of my brothers place.    


We used to have hogs in it ~ 20 yrs ago.    Brings back memories (mostly bad) whenever I go past it.




 




Why are these getting so many negative comments? These were very common around here when I was a kid, there are a number still standing but none with hogs in them that I can think of. I think hogs were a lot tougher when they were raised outside in this environment instead of a million dollar building. Also somebody with a strong back and a willingness to work could get into pork production and make some money. In fact, I know of a lady about my age (38) who put herself through college by feeding hogs in one of these setups and trading labor to her dad for corn. Graduated with no student loan debt, too.
