The load cell/impact plate is simple, elegant, and effective. The last thing modern combines need more complexity purely for the sake of complexity.

It is a system that does require proper operation. It's not limited to a narrow range of conditions and crops. At least, Ag Leader's system isn't. Properly calibrated, it is accurate and efficient across a broader range of conditions than the combine separator is itself. Ag Leader uses a nonlinear calibration which allows it to maintain accuracy at all grain flow levels. The load will be too light or too heavy for the separator to separate well before it reaches the point the monitor will not read well. If anything, if you understand how the system works, it helps to reinforce operator discipline with regards to separator loading.

What would be the point of installing a bucket elevator when a paddle chain is, again, simple and effective?
