Why? What's wrong with an impact plate? I have had well calibrated machines achieve accuracies in the range of tenths of a percent across 25,000 bushels. That's better than grain cart scales, which typically have an error of .5% to 1% per load cell.
It's simple, economical, and effective. There is no need to reinvent this wheel.
Kind of thought that might be the response. The impact plate works well....under a narrow range of conditions and crops. You get into any sort of conditions where smearing is an issue and the idea is non functional. You get into a situation where slowing down the elevator is a priority or perhaps even eliminating it and replacing it with a bucket elevator and again the impact plate is again ruled out.
The world of harvest is more than corn and beans under good conditions. |
