West Kentucky | Why would you say that? I don't think it is very fdifficut at all to be successful with VR seeding if you know your fields. Not a chance I would allow someone else to build my maps without my direct involvement though. They just don't have the knowledge to field truth my fields as well as we can. We have done multiple years of comparing against straight rates and it has worked well for us. Ph doesn't really affect corn yields like it does soybeans so that shouldn't be a big issue unless you have severe pH issues.
Our yield maps don't match up with our soil maps well at all. So, I use multiple years of yield data with the exception of total disasters like 2012 to build a composite maps. Create mgt zones and assign pops to each zone based off of variety, yield levels, etc. | |
