Foolish farmer,  let me ask you this question:  is your wife one of those persons who appreciates receiving (and giving) gifts? 

IF so, then giving her a gift is a must.  IF not, then maybe agreeing to not give (needless) gifts could be something to discuss ?

If you don't know what I am talking about, then maybe you - and your wife? - need to get a copy of Gary Chapman's "The Five Love Languages", read it, and discuss it.  (You can probably find it on Amazon as well, if you prefer to shop there.)
