Don't make it too complicated. Be humane and get it done. If you're worried about it, something will happen eventually and then you'll have to do it on your way to visit her in the hospital.
If someone takes care of it while you're gone, you wouldn't have anything to do with it.

seriously though...dispose of it before your grandma gets hurt. If it takes her a while to forgive you that's still not as bad as how long it will take you to forgive YOURSELF if something happens to your G'ma
