Subject: Cover crops

South Central NE
We are looking into cover crops for some farms in SCNE. These are pivot irrigated with both corn and soybeans to be harvested. Our land is mostly flat and black. We can do no fall applied N because we are in the Phase 3 Groundwater Control Area. Our goal is to capture any remaining N and possibly provide pasture. 1/2 our N goes on with strip-till in Mar. That is our only tillage pass. The rest is applied via pivot according to leaf samples on the growing plant. My question is will it work to apply the seed mix with a plane. And if it does would you do it pre or post harvest? This is our first attempt at using cover crops. Thanks in advance.
