Hi Jim, I enjoy your posts. Where in Northern Illinois have you been? My families farm is near Milledgeville and I live in McHenry so I get back that way quite a bit. Our farm got 1 1/2 inches or rain last night which should finish the crop off for us pretty well. Haven't seen any nitrogen problems there but we missed the huge rains. I think our biggest was 2 inches. If you go north 15-20 miles around Lake Carroll they had a couple of big rains early in the summer that hurt them and I think along the state line got hit worse yet early on. Here in McHenry, these crops look good overall but we've been missing some of the rains so the lighter areas are starting to show it. But, it doesn't take much to pond these fields here and there aren't the holes I'm used to seeing here either so I think it will be a good crop generally here.

I grew up raising beef cattle so I enjoy your pictures and posts. Nice set of Herefords! I like nice, calm cattle to work with too!:)
