N.W. Illinois | I live in Illinois but I bet we have similar soils at least on some of our ground. I'm assuming the 330 is used. Blade sharpness is extremely important running any VT tool. If the blades have much wear on the 330 plan on replacing them or at least sharpening them. Sharpening will last about 1 tillage pass if you are matching your width to your acreage. Your CaseIH dealer should have a blade sharpener. If you need to replace the blades CaseIH has gone to Earth metal blades which are supposed to wear longer. I have no experience with them.
We have been extremely happy with our 330. We are all corn on corn. Good yields and moderate to heavy stalks. We run the 330 in the fall as our primary tillage pass. Then one pass in the spring ahead of the planter. Sizing of residue is great as long as the blades are sharp. The 330 leaves a very good seedbed and takes out over 99% of any weeds for us. | |
