should be no reason you are burning up motors unless you have your VFD set wrong. One thing that will kill motors is running at too low of frequency, especially if your motor is not inverter duty rated which it likely isn't. Normal motors rely on rpm to turn the fan and cool themselves. In the case of a vfd, you shouldn't run your motors too slow if they aren't rated for it.
