West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12
Some of the split plantings can kind of wild on some these newer hybrids also. Around here sometimes they'll plant the male at three different dates and still wind up with a "loose" fill.

If you have a male first three leaf split or something wild like that, a spell of cool, rainy weather will doom the crop before the female has sprouted, or possibly even planted.
