Central Nebraska

Lone Wolf Picker - 7/30/2015 18:57 Golf nut, just curious if trimming the male is common there. Here we've gone to probably 75% one time plant and adjust the timing by flaming the male when it is pop can tall. J

The big three companies grow a lot of acres in my area and they all handle it a little different.  One company doesn't delay so much but they have a lot of double male delays (plant female, then male, then another male).  Another company doesn't do double delays but will mechanically delay the male, even when it is planted later, with a lawn mower type setup. Sometimes it moves up and down to make the row have a wavy look to it so some are delayed more than others.  The third company does the burning thing but I've never seen it done.
