I've always wanted to do it to land we were grading during the summer but I never have. The corn spilled or lost from the combine during harvest here will be 6-7' tall and putting on ears by November when frost hits.
Two years I've seen sunflowers blooming on Thanksgiving, they came from the heads mown down in August for the September dove hunt.
