Subject: RE: Bin run corn as cover crop

Near-north Ontario, French River
Instead of bin run corn, I'd suggest bin run wheat. 2bu would be more than enough, and would cost less than corn. Wheat will germ fine in the fall, will get enough growth to fight erosion and is easy to kill I the spring. Local soil and crop association tried it a few years back after members noticed that soys no-tilled in spring killed (winter damaged ) winter wheat seemed to yield better than soys no tilled into corn stalks or even soybean stubble.
