Im not familiar with that neck of the woods except driving past. However I would suggest get soil tests asap. That area has always looked 'tough' to me. Peas and wheat make for a great rotation, but the old timers who summer fallowed had their reasons too. Weed pressure will be critical to eliminate regardless, spray spray and spray some more until its right. No till may be a significant improvement, but economics will not improve over night. Spring tillage doesnt work so good 'here'.

Good luck to you, and dont be afraid to ask lots of questions here, there is a ton of knowledge to be gained for next to nothing, you just have to learn enough to apply it to your own situation.
