Land of the Horizontal Snow Ontarios West Coast | In 2012 we just no tilled barley and oats ( barley will put up more feed if weather is on the dryer side but may not be available in your area ) into wheat stubble the first of august and spun on 100lbs of urea. Cut, baled and wrapped the start of November, our climate would never allow us to get it dry enough to bale without wrapping. Averaged 6 4x5 bales per acre and it was awesome feed, kind of saved our arsses that year. It is surprising how well oats can survive hard freezes and stay grass green especially if they are thick and thigh high. |
